     HMBHS Counseling Department – Winter Events!
    • January 21, 2012 - Part II Financial Aid Workshops- FAFSA walkthrough. Paul Wrubel from the college company will help walk you through how to fill out the FAFSA form.
    • January 28th, 2012 - Como llenar la forma de FAFSA en Espanol. Jesenia Diaz, del departamento de ayuda financiera de CSM va a explicar como llenar la forma de FAFSA en Espanol.
    • January 18th - February 6th 2012, Course Registration for 2012-13 school year.
      • January 18th - Freshman Course Selection PLP (forms due on Tues 1/24)
      • January 20th - Sophomore Course Selection PLP (forms due on Wed 1/25)
      • January 25th - Junior Course Selection PLP (forms due on Mon 1/30)
      • January 31st - 8th grade course Selection PLP @ Cunha (forms due Mon 2/6)
      • February 1st - Seacrest & Wilkinson School course selection PLP (forms due Mon 2/6)
      • February 2nd - 8th grade parent info night @ HMBHS. 6pm in the MU.
    • January 30th - May 21st (Mondays)- Freshman individual family appointments. All freshman will be receiving a letter in the mail with their appointment time about 1 month prior to the meeting. Unfortunately these meetings cannot be rescheduled.
    • February 1st 2012 - Senior EOPS workshop series begins (1st Wed of month @ lunch)
    • February 1st 2012 - AP Fee Reduction forms available
    • February 17th - AP Fee Reduction forms due to Ms. Aselstine
    • March 1st - AP sign ups begin
    • March 2nd - Final day to submit FAFSA and Cal Grant paperwork. www.fafsa.ed.gov & http://www.csac.ca.gov/
    • March 9th - 10th and 11th graders interested in CSM’s Middle College program for next year. Completed application due to counselors.
    • March 16th - AP money and forms due.
    • March 21st - Community College sign up workshop for seniors planning to attend CSM, Skyline, or Canada next year. (Library)
    • March 22nd & 23rd - 11th grade career interest PLP with Steve Morehouse from CSM
    Counseling Headlines
    • UC Admission Policy Changes - You Need to Know. Starting with the Class of 2012... (this year's SENIORS!) UC Freshman Admissions: will no longer require the SAT Subject Tests (although some schools/majors might highly recommend them) and will require that students finish at least 11 out of their 15 A-G requirements by the end of their Junior year. Questions?!? E-mail your counselor.
    • Guaranteed Transfer Contracts through CSM! Did you know that CSM offers Guaranteed Transfer Contracts to: UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, Menlo College, Santa Clara University, Golden Gate University, University of San Francisco, Notre Dame de Namur University, San Jose State, Cal State East Bay, and priority admission to all other CSUs! Contact CSMs Transfer Services for more information @ 358-6839. Already planning to go to CSM? Join their TRANSFER CLUB today!!!
    • Athletes - NCAA Eligibility. Student Athletes: If you are considering playing competitive sports in college, it is important for you to understand the rules for eligibility, particularly for Divisions I and II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Interested students should register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at the end of 11th grade. Register at https://web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/common/ and follow instructions to send transcripts and official test scores as required.Please talk to your coach and see your counselor with questions!
    • Used SAT Books. Don't forget about our recycle program of SAT/ACT practice books. Leave your old books on the table in the College & Career Resource Room in the library and pick up one that you need - just remember to return for the next student!
    • Online SAT/ACT Preparation is available from the online instruction center of the SMC Community College District. The course is taken in two parts, each course runs for six weeks, with a two-week grace period at the end. Two lessons are released each week for the six-week duration of the course.
