Alvin S. Hatch Elementary School is 1 of 4 elementary schools in the Cabrillo Unified School District.
Hatch Elementary offers two unique educational programs at the school. The first is a "School of Choice" program that features two-way Spanish/English immersion. Students apply for this program from across the district. Spaces are filled by lottery and classes are balanced with an equal number of native English speakers and Spanish speakers. The second program is an English only instructional model and takes neighborhood students first.
No matter which program parents select for their students, all students at Hatch Elemnentary learn the California Common Core State Standards in English languauge arts, mathematics and science. In addition to rigorous academics, the school offers instruction in art, music and physical education to all students, and student have access to a fully-stocked library, technology, and science lab. Students gain the foundational skills needed for academic success when they move on to Cunha Intermediate School, which in turn prepares them for rigorous classes at Half Moon Bay High School.
Every student shall be empowered to achieve the highest of skills academically, linguistically, and socially while developing self-esteem and creativity. We believe education is the shared responsibility of parents, students, and the community in partnership with the school.
