Hatch Elementary is committed to helping children become lifelong learners in an environment that values academic excellence and global understanding. The school is unique in the District because two pathways are provided for students. The first is a traditional English program. The second is a two-way English-Spanish immersion program. Other key identifying characteristics include a partnership with Stanford University for student teachers and participation in the international Amity Scholar Program. Parents are active members of the Hatch community and support the school in many wonderful ways. Hatch is the recipient of numerous recognitions including the 2011 San Mateo County Reading Association Award for Principal's Book of the Month Program.
Alvin S. Hatch Elementary School is one of one of 4 elementary schools in the Cabrillo Unified School District.
Two Pathways. There are two educational pathways at Hatch; the English Immersion (Traditional) and the Spanish Immersion Program.
English: Instruction is offered in English. Students also have the opportunity to have a daily lesson in Spanish.
Spanish Immersion: Instruction is offered in Spanish. English is introduced gradually. By 5th grade, students are taught 50% of the time in each language. The Spanish Immersion's goal is literacy in two languages.
One Destination. We are committed to helping our children become lifetime learners in an environment that values academic excellence and global understanding. Our community of teachers, staff, parents, and children come together to reach this goal.
