Computer Lab
El Granada Elementary School has a computer lab and network throughout the school that enables the children and teachers to benefit from information available on the world wide web.
The Internet
The Internet provides immediate access to information anywhere in the world. You can look at (and print out) articles, documents and pictures for your class projects. You can even get current facts about news, weather from Cunha School website and sports.
Electronic Mail, or E-mail, is the most commonly used feature of the Internet. E-mail allows memos, personal letters, and messages to be sent from one person to another through the computer. Students do not have access to E-mail at school.
So Who's on the Internet?
The Internet is a "public place". You must remember you are sharing this space with many other users. When you are using the computer network and communicating with others, keep the following in mind:
-
You cannot see them.
-
You cannot tell how old they are or even what sex they are.
-
They Can tell you anything, and you cannot always be sure what they are telling you is true.
For your own safety and for the safety of others, remember to exercise caution when you are communicating with people anywhere. Do not give out your home phone number or address to anyone. If you feel there is a problem or if you feel uncomfortable with the information someone is giving you, tell your teacher, immediately. |
