Open Enrollment Policy

This school district has a policy that allows parents to request that their child attend a school outside of their school of residence. Enrollment is contingent on procedures of Board Policy and Regulations 5116.1.

If you are interested in your child attending a school other than your home school for the next school year, please request an Open Enrollment form from your school office or download from our web site beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2012.

There is no need to complete a form if your child is already on Open Enrollment.

Those interested in Spanish Immersion - Kindergarten at Hatch, please go directly to Hatch School or call the Hatch School office at 712-7160.

The following requirements apply to your requested transfer:

1. Your application must be in the district office by April 26, 2012 to be eligible for the lottery on April 27, 2012.
2. You will be informed by mail as to whether my request has been approved, denied, or placed on a waiting list by August 2012. You will confirm the enrollment within two weeks of my notification.
3. If your child is not enrolled in the requested school during the 2012-2013 school year, at the appropriate time, you may submit a new request for a future year.
4. Transportation will not be provided to the requested school.
5. No student currently residing within a school's attendance area shall be displaced by another student.
6. Once enrolled, your child shall not have to apply for readmission. However, your child may be subject to displacement due to excessive enrollment.
7. Intradistrict transfers may be terminated at any time during the school year when repeated academic, attendance, or behavioral problems occur.
8. Current intradistrict transfers will have priority over new open enrollment requests in order to provide continuity in the current students' educational program.
9. If your child requires special education services and the IEP cannot be implemented at the requested school then the open enrollment transfer may be denied.
