Registration and General Information

We are happy to welcome your family as part of our school community and hope to make your transition as easy as possible. To complete your child Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten Enrollment, please visit your school site beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

ALL CHILDREN WILL GO TO THEIR HOME SCHOOL TO REGISTER.

INTRADISTRICT OPEN ENROLLMENT

Children including siblings interested in attending a school other than their home school, must register at their home school and request an Intradistrict Open Enrollment Application at the time of registration.

The deadline for the Sibling Open Enrollment is January 25, 2017. The Sibling Intradistrict Lottery will be held on January 27, 2017 at the District Office.

The deadline for the Open Enrollment is April 26, 2017. The Intradistrict Lottery will be held on April 28, 2017 at the District Office.

HATCH IMMERSION PROGRAM

Children including siblings interested in the Two-Way Spanish-English Immersion Program must register at their home school and fill out a School of Choice Application. Immersion Registration Deadline: March 31, 2017. Immersion Lottery: April 3, 2017 (if necessary.)

To enroll in the Immersion Program parents must attend ONE of the following Mandatory Meetings: January 25, 2017, February 27, 2017 and March 21, 2017. All Mandatory Meetings are held at Hatch at 6:30 PM.

2017-18 REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

AGE OF ADMISSION

  • Kindergarten:  Born on or before September 1, 2012
  • Transitional Kindergarten: Born between September 2 and December 2, 2012
  • Children who do not turn 5 by December 2, 2017 are not eligible to enroll in school for the 2017-18 school year.

PROOF OF AGE

A birth certificate, certified copy of birth record, baptismal record, or passport will serve as proof of the child's birth date.  

PROOF OF RESIDENCY

Per Board Policy, prior to admission in district schools, students shall provide proof of residency. Reasonable evidence of residency may be established by documentation including, but not limited to, any of the following:

  • Property tax payment receipts
  • Rent payment receipts
  • Utility service payment receipts
  • Declaration of residency executed by the student’s parent/guardian

RECORD OF FOLLOWING IMMUNIZATION

  • POLIO – 4 doses (if only 3 doses given, 3rd dose must be on or after 4th birthday) *
  • DTaP (Whooping Cough) – 5 doses (if only 4 doses given, 4th dose must be on or after 4th birthday) *
  • MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA (German Measles) – 2 doses (both on or after 1st birthday) *
  • HEPATITIS B – 3 doses at any age
  • VARICELLA (Chickenpox) – 1 dose**

*Receipt of the dose up to (and including) 4 days before the birthday will satisfy the school entry immunization requirement
**Physician-documented varicella disease history or immunity meets the varicella requirement

Starting January 1, 2016, exemptions to required immunizations based on personal beliefs, including religious beliefs, are no longer allowed.

REPORT OF HEALTH EXAMINATION FOR SCHOOL ENTRY

To protect the health of children, California law requires a health examination on school entry. You will receive this form at the time of registration and will need to be completed by a doctor.

REGISTRATION FORMS

Cabrillo Unified School District Registration Material and Open Enrollment forms will be available at your home school starting January 17, 2017 and on CUSD Website.

All registration paperwork must be received by the home school. Children are not considered registered until all paperwork is completed. It is preferable that parent complete registration forms at school. The District Office does not register students.

Schools Visitation Information

Alvin S. Hatch Elementary School has Traditional, Immersion and Transitional Kindergarten programs. Parents are welcome to visit and learn about our school and programs on the following dates: January 26, 2017, February 28, 2017 and March 24, 2017. All visitations are from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Parents should meet in the office at 8:20 AM to register. Visitors may not bring preschool children on these tours.

El Granada Elementary School has both a Transitional Kindergarten Program and a Traditional Kindergarten Program. Parents are welcome to visit and learn about our school and programs on the following dates: December 16, 2016, January 13, 2017, February 10, 2017 and March 10, 2017 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Parents may also visit during Public Schools Week. Parents should meet in the office at 8:20 AM to register. Visitors may not bring children on these tours.

Farallone View Elementary School has both a Transitional Kindergarten Program and a Traditional Kindergarten Program. Parents are welcome to visit and learn about our school and programs on the following dates: January 11, 2017, February 15, 2017 and March 20, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. A Spanish interpreter will be available at all tours. Registration at Moonridge will be on March 7, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Please call the school office at 712.7170 or for Spanish speakers at 728.7238 to reserve a tour time. Visitors may not bring children on these tours.

Kings Mountain Elementary School has a Traditional Kindergarten Program in a small school setting. Parents are welcome to visit and learn about our school via tours with the Principal. Please call the school office at 650.712.7180 to reserve a tour time. Visitors may not bring children on these tours.
