2012-2013 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - GENERAL INFORMATION

Kindergarten registration will begin on Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Children must be born on or before November 1, 2007 to be eligible to enroll for the 2012-2013 school year. Children born between November 2 and December 1, 2007 will automatically be eligible for a Transitional Kindergarten Program. Click here for Transitional Kindergarten Information.

Registration and Open Enrollment forms will NOT to be distributed until Tuesday, January 17, 2012.

The deadline for the Sibling Lottery is Thursday, January 26, 2012. The Sibling Lottery will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at the District Office.

Registration Requirements

The Intradistrict Open Enrollment Lottery is April 27, 2012 (grades K-5) at 8:00 AM. Intradistrict Open Enrollment Forms must be received at the home school by April 26, 2012

Farallone View has both a Traditional Kindergarten program and a Looping Kindergarten program. We welcome incoming Kindergarten parents to visit and learn about our school and programs on Fridays at 8:45-9:45  on the following dates: December 9, 2011, January 6, 2012 and March 2, 2012. Please call the school office (712-7170) to reserve a time.

El Granada has a traditional Kindergarten program. Visitations will be November 17, 2011, January 12, 2012, February 16, 2012 and March 15, 2012  from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Parents may also visit during Public Schools Week – April 9 to 13, 2012 - or any Wednesday with 24 hour notice. Parents will meet in the school office. Visitors may not bring children on these tours.

Alvin S. Hatch Elementary School has Traditional and Immersion Kindergarten programs. Immersion orientation meetings dates are as follows: Thursday, December 8, 2011, Thursday, January 5, 2012, Thursday, February 2, 2012. Times of the orientation meetings are 6:30 - 8:00 PM in Room B-1 at Hatch. Parents of new students to the Immersion Program must attend an orientation meeting if they wish their child to participate in the program.

The kindergarten visitation dates for both Immersion and Traditional classes will be on the following Fridays: December 9, 2011, January 6, 2012, February 3, 2012.  Parents do not have to sign up for the visitation.  They should sign in at the office before 9:00 AM and the principal will take them on a tour of the kindergarten classrooms and the school.  He will answer any questions they might have regarding kindergarten and Hatch School.

Kings Mountain has a traditional kindergarten program in a small school setting. Visitations are by appointment by calling 712-7180. Please give 24 hours notice. Visitors may not bring children on these tours.

Age of Admission: Kindergarten registration begins Tuesday, January 17, 2012. Per the new Kindergarten Readiness Act of 2010, starting with the 2012-2013 school year and over the next four years, the required birth date for admittance to kindergarten will be pushed back. Please refer to the following schedule to determine if a child is old enough to attend kindergarten:

2012-13 Born on or before Nov. 1, 2007 - Kindergarten
Born between Nov. 2 and Dec. 1, 2007 - Transitional Kindergarten
2013-14 Born on or before Oct. 1, 2008 - Kindergarten
Born between Oct. 2 and Dec. 1, 2008 - Transitional Kindergarten
2014-15 Born on or before Sept. 1, 2009 - Kindergarten
Born between Sept. 2 and Dec. 1, 2009 - Transitional Kindergarten

Immunization Record showing immunization against:

  • POLIO - 3 doses meet requirement for ages 4 6 years if at least 1 was given on or after the 4th birthday*
  • DIPHTHERIA, TETANUS, PERTUSSIS (Whooping Cough) - 4 doses meet requirements for ages 4 6 years if at least 1 was on or after the 4th birthday*
  • MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA (German Measles) - 2 doses both on or after 1st birthday*
  • TB Test and Results
  • HEPATITIS B - 3 doses at any age
  • VARICELLA (Chickenpox) - 1 dose**

* Receipt of the dose up to (and including) 4 days before the birthday will satisfy the school entry immunization requirement

** Physician-documented varicella disease history or immunity meets the varicella requirement

Proof of Residency:

Per Board Policy, prior to admission in district schools, students shall provide proof of residency. Reasonable evidence of residency may be established by documentation including, but not limited to, any of the following:

  1. Property tax payment receipts
  2. Rent payment receipts
  3. Utility service payment receipts
  4. Declaration of residency executed by the student’s parent/guardian

Birth Certificate: A birth certificate, certified copy of birth record, baptismal record, or passport will serve as proof of the child's birth date.

California Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) Form: A report of health checkup will be given to you at the time of registration and will need to be completed by a doctor before your child can start school. 

CUSD Registration Form: A Cabrillo Unified School District Registration Form must be completed and returned to the school office before your child will be enrolled.
